Hexis

The short version. This game has no accounts and collects nothing that identifies you - no name, no email, no contacts. Your progress, statistics and settings stay on your device and are never sent to a server. What is sent to Google is information used to show ads, plus crash diagnostics and anonymous usage statistics. Section 1 lists exactly what.

1. What we collect

Nothing that identifies you personally. Only information for ads, diagnostics and usage statistics is sent, and it goes to Google.

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location. Nothing that directly identifies you is gathered. There is no sign-up and no login.

The tools below collect information. All are provided by Google.

  • Google AdMob (ads) - to choose, show and measure ads: the advertising identifier, an approximate location inferred from your IP address, device model and OS version, and which ads you saw or tapped
  • Firebase Crashlytics (crash diagnostics) - when the app crashes: device model, OS version, app version, the call stack at the point of failure, and state such as device language and free storage
  • Google Analytics for Firebase (usage statistics) - app opens and closes, which difficulty and board size you chose, device model and OS version, the advertising identifier, an approximate country inferred from your IP address, and, when an in-app purchase happens, the product ID, product name and price
  • Firebase Remote Config (settings) - an identifier attached to each install when the app downloads settings such as ad spacing and hint refill time

Why. The game is free and supported by ads. Crash diagnostics are the only way to learn why the app fails on a phone we do not have, and usage statistics tell us which difficulties people actually play, which is how the boards get tuned.

⚠️ None of this tells us who you are, and we do not try to find out. Your game records themselves - progress, statistics, calendar - are never transmitted.

2. What stays on your device

The following is stored only on your device, and is deleted when you delete the app.

  • The board you have in progress, so you can resume it
  • Statistics per difficulty (games played, win rate, times, streaks)
  • The daily challenge calendar and its completion marks
  • Hints left and when they refill
  • Settings such as sound, haptics, dark mode, animations, the mistake limit and the daily challenge reminder

We do not collect any of this, and we have no way to read it.

3. Network use

The game itself runs offline. Boards are generated on your device, and no board is downloaded from a server. Solving boards and keeping records work with no connection at all.

The network is used only to fetch ads, send the diagnostics and statistics in section 1, and fetch settings. Those transmissions are always encrypted with HTTPS. With no connection, no ads appear, nothing is sent, and the game behaves exactly as usual.

4. Advertising and payments

This game shows Google AdMob ads and offers in-app purchases.

  • Banner ads - at the bottom of the game screen
  • Interstitial ads - after a board ends, at intervals
  • Rewarded ads - only if you choose to watch one when you are out of hints, for one hint

The advertising identifier is used to choose and measure ads. Users in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland see Google's consent form on first launch and can choose whether to receive personalised ads. Declining changes nothing in the game; you see non-personalised ads instead.

Anywhere, you can reset or delete the advertising identifier in your device settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads).

There is one in-app purchase: removing ads. It is a one time purchase. Payment is handled by Google Play and the App Store. We never receive or store payment details such as card numbers. The fact that you bought something is kept on your device only and is not sent to us. We do not run a server. Delete the app and it goes with it; reinstall and the store restores the purchase.

The purchase record itself, however, is collected automatically by our analytics tool. When a payment happens, Google Analytics for Firebase logs the product ID, product name and price. We do not send this ourselves; the tool does it on its own (Google documentation). It is used for statistics only. It is not used to choose or personalise ads.

⚠️ Advertising data is shared with Google as described in section 6, but the purchase record is not. Google only processes it on our behalf, and it goes nowhere else. We never sell or hand over your information.

If the advertising or payment setup changes, this page will be updated before that build ships, and the change will be recorded with its effective date in section 10 below.

5. Permissions

The game asks for one permission.

  • Notifications - to remind you once in the afternoon when you have not played that day's daily challenge. It is asked once, after your first win, and the game works the same if you decline. Reminders are scheduled on your device and never go through a server. You can turn them off in the game settings at any time.

The game does not use the camera, microphone, contacts, location or file storage. The permissions below are declared automatically by the game and the tools in section 1. They may appear in the Android permission list.

  • VIBRATE - a short vibration when you make a mistake or finish a board (can be turned off in settings)
  • INTERNET · ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - fetching ads, sending diagnostics and statistics, fetching settings
  • com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID · ACCESS_ADSERVICES_* - the advertising identifier and Android's ad features
  • WAKE_LOCK · FOREGROUND_SERVICE - letting Google services finish a transmission
  • Install referrer (BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE) - lets usage statistics know which store the app came from
  • com.android.vending.BILLING - declared for in-app purchases

6. Sharing and processors

We do not sell information. However, ad-related information (advertising identifier, approximate location, which ads you saw or tapped, diagnostics) is passed to Google to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud. Diagnostics, usage statistics and settings are only processed by Google on our behalf and go nowhere else.

The information in section 1 is processed by the companies below.

How Google uses information in connection with ads is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. The game is distributed through Google Play and the App Store. Whatever those stores collect during download or payment is governed by their own policies, and we do not receive it.

7. Retention and deletion

Everything on your device is deleted when you delete the app. You do not need to ask us for anything.

You can also reset your statistics from inside the game's settings. The information in section 1 is kept by Google according to each service's retention period. We hold nothing that identifies you, so we cannot look up any one person's records. Resetting the advertising identifier breaks the link to earlier records.

8. Children

This game is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
