Dawnwick

The short version. This game has no accounts and collects nothing that identifies you - no name, no email, no contacts. Your progress, records, the run in progress, your gems and your settings stay on your device and are never sent to a server. We do not have a server. What is sent to Google is information used to show ads, plus crash diagnostics, anonymous usage statistics and a settings download. Ads are shown by Google AdMob, and paid products are handled by Google Play (the App Store on iPhone); we never receive payment details. Section 1 lists exactly what is sent, and section 4 covers ads and payments.

1. What we collect

We do not collect anything that identifies you, such as your name, email or phone number. Only information needed for ads, app stability and usage statistics is sent to Google.

We collect no information that directly identifies you - no name, email, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location. There is no account and no sign-in.

The tools below collect information. All are provided by Google.

  • Google AdMob (ads) - to choose, show and measure ads: the advertising ID, an approximate location estimated from your IP address, device model and OS version, records of ads viewed or tapped, and app and ad SDK performance information (app launch time, hang rate, energy use and so on)
  • Firebase Crashlytics (crash diagnostics) - when the app crashes: device model, OS version, app version, the call stack where the error happened, memory and storage state, app language, whether it is a development build, and the kind of run being played (night, map, hunt, delve, endless night, trial)
  • Google Analytics for Firebase (usage statistics) - usage the tool records automatically (app opens, first open, time spent and so on), and play records the game sends (run start and end, kind of run, night number, waves survived, whether you won, run length, the weapons and spirits you brought, stars earned, newly unlocked weapons, spirits, roads and titles, what you upgraded in the workshop and research, where an ad was shown and whether it was watched to the end, rewards received from rewarded ads, in-app products you tapped to buy and the result (completed, cancelled, failed), settings changed and their values), an identifier attached to each install (app instance ID), app version, app language, device model and OS version, an approximate country estimated from your IP address, and, when a purchase happens, the product ID, product name and price. The advertising ID is not added to usage statistics, and ad personalization signals are turned off
  • Firebase Remote Config (settings download) - an identifier attached to each install, used when downloading a few settings such as ad intervals and daily ad limits

Where consent is required, usage statistics are sent only with your consent. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, usage statistics are sent only if you agree in the Google consent form described in section 4, and are not sent when consent cannot be confirmed. They are also not sent from devices we use for development and testing.

Why we collect this. The game is supported by ads. Crash diagnostics are the only way to learn why the app stops on devices we do not own, and usage statistics show how the game is actually played so we can tune difficulty and screens.

⚠️ This information does not tell us who you are, and we do not try to find out. Game data itself (progress, records, the run in progress, settings) is never sent.

2. What stays on your device

The following is stored only on your device and is removed when you delete the app.

  • Nights cleared and stars earned, records and titles for each road (map, hunt, delve, endless night, trials)
  • Workshop upgrades, weapons, spirits, runes, cards, research progress and finish times, the codex and lantern looks
  • In-game currencies such as Coin, gems, shards and delve keys
  • The run in progress (so you can continue)
  • The time you last closed the app (to work out the reward for the time you were away)
  • Settings such as language, sound and music volume, vibration and its strength, screen shake and damage numbers
  • Purchased products (whether you bought Remove ads)
  • Ad records: how many rewarded ads you watched today, the time of the last ad, when interstitial ads were shown in the past hour, and how many runs you have played since the last interstitial ad (to keep daily limits and ad intervals)

We do not collect this information and have no way to view it. If your device backs up app data (for example Android Auto Backup or an iPhone backup), the operating system may include it in that backup. That is between you and your device maker; we do not receive those backups.

3. Network use

The game itself works offline. Pictures and sounds are made inside the app as you play, and no game data is downloaded from a server. The reward for time away and research timers are worked out from the device clock only. You can play and keep records without an internet connection.

The network is used only to receive ads, to send the diagnostics and statistics in section 1, to download settings, and for in-app purchases. Transfers are always encrypted with HTTPS. Without a connection, no ads appear and nothing is sent, and the game works as usual.

4. Advertising and payments

This game has Google AdMob ads and in-app products.

  • Rewarded ads - you choose to watch them and receive a reward such as double Coin after a run, relighting your lantern once per run when it goes out, cutting 30 minutes off research, or double the reward for time away. Double Coin has a daily limit on how many times you can watch it. They never play unless you choose them
  • Interstitial ads - full-screen ads shown only when you leave the result screen after a run. They never appear during a run. They do not appear in your first few runs after installing, after you quit a run partway, when you open or return to the app, or on a result screen where you won a night for the first time or unlocked something new. They appear only once every few runs, only after a few minutes have passed since the previous ad (rewarded ads included), and there is a limit on how many can appear in an hour. If you watched a rewarded ad on that result screen, no interstitial ad is shown

There are no banner ads and no ads when the app opens. Numbers such as ad intervals and limits are downloaded through Firebase Remote Config (section 1), and when to show an ad is decided on the device from the ad records in section 2.

The advertising ID is used to choose and measure ads. Users in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland may see Google's consent form on first launch and can choose whether to allow personalized ads and usage statistics. However, on iPhone, if you have not allowed tracking, this form is not shown - we do not ask again about something you already declined. You can play either way; you may see non-personalized ads or no ads.

On Android, in any region, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).

On iPhone, Apple's tracking prompt (App Tracking Transparency) appears once, just before the first ad is shown. It is the iOS system prompt asking whether to allow the app to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you allow it, the advertising identifier (IDFA) is used to choose and measure ads; if you do not allow it, iOS does not give the identifier to the app and you see non-personalized ads. Either way you can play, and nothing is locked if you decline. To change it later, go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. When tracking is not allowed, ad measurement happens only in a form that cannot identify you, through Apple's SKAdNetwork.

You can also change it in the app at any time. Tap Settings → «Ad privacy settings»: if you answered the Google consent form, it reopens so you can change or withdraw your choice; on iPhone, if you have not allowed tracking, it opens this app's page in iOS Settings (the tracking switch). It opens only when you tap it; the app does not ask on its own. (This row appears only when there is a choice you can change.)

There are two in-app products. There are no random-draw products.

  • Remove ads - bought once. It removes interstitial ads only - rewarded ads, which you watch only when you choose, remain
  • Gem pack - each purchase adds a fixed number of gems. Gems are used to buy lantern looks, finish research right away, open a second research slot, or buy delve keys. Gems are also earned by winning a night for the first time and by passing weekly endless-night thresholds

Payments are handled by Google Play on Android and the App Store on iPhone. The payment screen is the store's own, and we never receive or keep payment details such as card numbers. The fact that you made a purchase and how many gems you have are stored on your device and are not sent to us. We do not have a server. (Usage statistics also record purchase history, as described below.)

Refunds follow the policy and process of the store that handled the payment. You can ask Google Play on Android or Apple on iPhone, or contact us as in section 10.

⚠️ Deleting the app deletes the records on your device. «Remove ads» is restored from the store when you reinstall (automatically when the app opens on Android, with «Restore purchases» on iPhone). Gems are used up when spent and cannot be restored. If you delete the app or change devices, remaining gems and progress cannot be recovered.

However, purchase «history» is collected as usage statistics. The game records which product you tapped to buy and the result (completed, cancelled, failed), and when a purchase happens Google Analytics for Firebase automatically records the product ID, product name and price (Google documentation). It is used only to read statistics. It is not used to choose or personalize ads.

⚠️ Ad-related information is shared with Google as described in section 6, but purchase history is not. Google only processes it on our behalf, and it does not go anywhere else. We never sell or hand over information.

If the ads or payment setup change, we will update this page before releasing the change and record it with an effective date in section 11.

5. Permissions

The app asks you for one permission, and only on iPhone. On Android it asks for nothing.

  • Tracking (iPhone only) - asked once, just before the first ad, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. It is for personalized ads and is described in section 4. You can play without allowing it.

The app does not use the camera, microphone, contacts, location, notifications, photos or storage access. The permissions below are declared automatically by the game and the tools in section 1 and may appear in the Android permission list. This list is for Android; iPhone has no such declared list.

  • VIBRATE - short vibration feedback (can be turned off or made weaker in Settings)
  • INTERNET · ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - receiving ads, sending diagnostics and statistics, downloading settings
  • com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID · ACCESS_ADSERVICES_* - the advertising ID and Android ad features
  • WAKE_LOCK · FOREGROUND_SERVICE - lets Google services finish sending
  • Install referrer (BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE) - lets usage statistics know which store the app was installed from
  • com.android.vending.BILLING - declared for in-app purchases
  • dev.dalgureum.lantern.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION - the app's own permission that keeps its internal signals from being received by other apps (added by Android, never asked)

6. Sharing and processors

We do not sell information. Ad-related information (advertising ID, approximate location, records of ads viewed or tapped, app and ad SDK performance information) is shared with Google to show and measure ads and prevent fraud. Crashlytics crash diagnostics, usage statistics and settings are processed by Google on our behalf and go nowhere else.

The information in section 1 is processed by:

How Google uses information in connection with ads is described in Google's partner sites policy. The app is distributed and paid for through Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iPhone). Information the stores collect on their own during download or payment follows each store's policy (Google LLC · Apple Inc.), and we do not receive it.

7. Other device features the app uses

External links. Tapping «Privacy Policy» in Settings opens this page in your device's web browser. The only thing the app passes to the browser is the page address.

Device clock. The reward for time away, research timers and the time between ads are worked out from the device clock. The time is used only on the device and is not sent anywhere.

8. Retention and deletion

Information on your device is deleted when you delete the app. No request is needed.

The only way to erase the information on your device is to delete the app; there is no in-game feature to erase records only. The information in section 1 is kept by Google according to each service's retention period. We hold nothing that identifies you, so we cannot look up a specific person's records. Resetting your advertising ID breaks the link to earlier records.

9. Children

This game is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
