Hangul Madang is out now

Available now on Google Play and the App Store. Crossword, word search and a 60-second quiz in one app, with every clue taken word for word from the dictionary.

Hangul Madang is out now on Google Play and the App Store.

It is three Korean word games in one app. In the crossword you pick wooden syllable tiles to fill the grid, so there is no typing and never an argument about what counts as a word. In word search you drag across the letters to find the hidden words. The speed quiz gives you sixty seconds to match as many words to their meanings as you can.

Every clue is an original definition from the Korean Basic Dictionary by the National Institute of Korean Language. We do not rewrite them. The words on the board are always Korean, and the definitions follow your language, so it works as a way to learn Korean too.

Each day there is one Daily Puzzle that everyone solves together, and it earns a stamp on your calendar. Solved puzzles stay on your shelf, and each one adds a piece to an old Korean painting, starting with Kim Hong-do's genre paintings.

The coins you earn go into your own yard, where you can place jars, trees, kites and lanterns wherever you like.

There are no hearts and no lives. A wrong guess costs nothing. It plays offline and asks for no account.

The trailer is at the top of this page.

If you enjoy word puzzles, or you are learning Korean, give Hangul Madang a try.
